What’S On: Uk Sports 2010

Whatever your favourite sport is, there are hundreds of events taking place in Britain during 2010 to keep you amused.

The main talking point is likely to be the World Cup in South Africa. England are the only British team to be represented and with a group consisting of USA, Algeria and Slovenia, the Three Lions will be confident of progressing to the knock out stages before the English press gets overly excited about the team's chances of winning the tournament.

April is athletics time as the Virgin London Marathon puts its best foot forward on Sunday 25th. European Badminton Championships are held in Manchester and the well-known boat race between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge is held on Saturday 3rd April. This will be the 156th race to be held as the legacy continues as strong as ever. More activities follow in April for horse racing fans as the Aintree Grand National and Scottish Grand National get off with a bang.

June is the time for cricket and there are several test matches taking place across the United Kingdom throughout the month and further into the summer. Last year England reclaimed the Ashes and this summer the Australians return for a five match one-day series. Bangladesh and Pakistan will also be touring with six tests planned as well as a number of ODIs.

Get yourself to Silverstone in June if you fancy taking in the MotoGP. Also on the motor racing front is the British Touring Car Championship, held at Oulton Park and Croft.

Another few big name events are held in June. The Royal Ascot horse races are mid-month and the world-famous Wimbledon Tennis Championships begin at the end of June and continue into July. After Andy Murray reached the final of the Australian Open hopes for the Scot will be high and Henman Hill will again be taken over by northern supporters.

As July is a summer month the likelihood of good weather increases and the St Andrews Golf Open begins. Further south the Southport Women’s British Golf Open tees off.

Motorcycling in Cardiff takes a turn for the better with the British Speedway Grand Prix, and July sees more action at Silverstone as the British Grand Prix gets started. Motorcycling events continue into August with the Superbikes event at Donington Park and September heralds the start of the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill.

If you fancy taking a break to watch some of your favourite sporting events then why not make the most of your time off and look into coach trips, which get you from A to B without any hassle?

Driving across the UK and finding your way around can be stressful and taking a coach trip would mean you get to sit back and enjoy the journey without having to worry about any of the logistics.

Millions of people from around the world tune in on their TVs and even travel hundreds of miles to see famous races such as the Grand Prix, NASCAR and F1. There is no denying the impact motor racing has left modern history and humanity.

There are two main types of racing today; stock car racing and single seater racing. Stock car racing uses stock editions of automobiles that race around an oval race track. The most popular race is of course, NASCAR, immensely popular in South America and other parts of the country. Stock cars are built on model factory editions, which are limited to a certain speed for safety. The race usually lasts from 200-600 miles in duration.

The second main type, the single seater racing is more popular in Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Formula One in the USA is the most popular variant of the type. The race features production model race cars that are built low to the ground to maximize race performance. The cars have more slender bodies, open wheels and large hydrofoils.

Of course, racing is not only limited to automobiles-motocross, rally and bike racing are just as popular, too, not only in the United States but also all over the world.

Motocross is a form of motorcycle sport racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. Motocross first started off in Europe, particularly on British scrambling competitions. Motocross is dominated by 3 major events, namely, the FIM Grand Prix, World Championship Series and AMA American National Championship.

Rally racing, on the other hand, is a type of race taking place on public or private roads. Rallying is distinguished because it does not run on a circuit, but rather in a point-to-point format where they set control points. Rallies are won by speed within stages or by driving a prearranged ideal journey time within stages. Rally races take place in almost all surfaces available: asphalt, snow, ice, and more. Moreover, they run in any part of the year, regardless of the weather, from bitter cold to monsoon rain.

Road bike racing is a popular sport held on roads, where competing bikers start simultaneously, with the winner being the first in line at the end of the course. It is especially popular in Europe, especially in France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Its most famous races include the Tour de France and the Olympic games.

Are you into car racing? Then rev up your ordinary car into a wonder race machine! Racing is a glamorous but by no means a safe sport. Make sure that your car is in top shape and take the necessary safety precautions before going into the sport. Modify and assemble your perfect race car with professional know companies.
